Job Opportunity: Senior Policy Analyst - Health Privacy Project
The Center for Democracy and Technology is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to work on its new initiative on health privacy. The job offers an exciting opportunity to shape public policy on one of the key issues of the digital age. In March 2008, CDT launched a Health Privacy Project to develop and promote public policies that ensure patient privacy as personal health information is shared electronically. CDT is a non-profit public interest group, based in Washington DC, dedicated to promoting civil liberties in the digital age. CDT is one of the world’s premier Internet, technology and civil liberties advocacy organizations.
BACKGROUND -- HEALTH PRIVACY IN THE DIGITAL AGE: It is widely recognized that information technology can be a critical tool for improving health quality and access and empowering consumers. Government agencies and the health care sector are developing health information exchanges and a growing number of companies are offering Personal Health Records services. Congress is considering a range of policy questions associated with HIT. However, the privacy issues associated with the growing liquidity of health information remain unresolved.
SENIOR POLICY ANALYST POSITION: Under the direction of the Director of the Health Privacy Project, the primary responsibilities of this position will be to -
