Funding
This Section

CDT receives support from a diverse and balanced range of funders. Specifically, CDT receives funding from foundations, corporations, international institutions, and trade associations. CDT accepts no government funding.

Foundations fund our work on a specific project or give us general support. CDT receives funding from corporations and trade associations to join our working groups (including those on Digital Privacy and Security; User Empowerment; Internet Privacy) or to provide general support. Public interest organizations interested in working on a particular issue join our working groups at no cost.

You can help support CDT's efforts to promote democratic values on the Internet. Individuals may make tax-deductible donations either through PayPal or by sending a check directly to CDT at 1634 I Street NW, Suite 1100, Washington DC 20006. Gifts will go toward funding CDT's many ongoing projects, including our efforts to protect free expression online; promote strict limits on government searches of e-mail and Internet records; and bolster privacy protections on the World Wide Web. Details on giving are available.

CDT also accepts cy pres funding to support our work on consumer privacy and other issues. Most recently, CDT has received cy pres awards from the UCAN v. Bank of America case and from the Privacy Rights Fund of the California Consumer Protection Foundation.

If you are interested in donating to CDT or making a cy pres award to support our work, please contact Vice President Ari Schwartz at 202-637-9800 x 107, ari@cdt.org.
