Deceptive Web Site Operator Settles With FTC - A web site operator who sold software by fraudulently claiming that it allowed users to legally download copyrighted songs from popular file-swapping services has agreed to a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. The operator of mp3downloadcity.com agreed to pay $15,000 in refunds to consumers who bought his product and to end claims that his products allow for "100 percent legal" downloads of copyrighted music. The Web site was the subject of a complaint that CDT filed with the FTC last March. May 26, 2006
