CDT Joins Groups Defending Important Environmental Resource - CDT has joined a coalition of environmental, public interest and open government groups in calling on Congress to pass a bill that would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from weakening a resource that informs the public about the location of toxic materials. The Pallone-Solis Toxic Right-to-Know Amendment blocks the EPA from moving forward with a plan to weaken the Toxic Release Inventory, which alerts citizens when dangerous industrial toxins are released in their community. The TRI program features a Web site that allows citizens to search for toxins by zip code. More than 100 groups signed onto the effort, led by OMB Watch. May 18, 2006
