Unethical Adware Distributor Ceases Operations - ContextPlus, a company identified by CDT as an unethical adware distributor, has ceased distributing its software, according to a note on the company's Web site. Last November, CDT filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission against Integrated Search Technologies -- an adware distributor -- and several of its affiliates, including ContextPlus. Discovering, publicizing and referring to law enforcement the identities of malicious spyware and adware distributors has been a key prong of CDT's effort to turn back the tide of surreptitious software downloads. Even if ContextPlus has ended its unethical practices, CDT urges law enforcers to investigate the company and send the clear message that unethical actors in this space can and will be punished for their past deeds.
