Open Government Bill Introduced - Senators John Cornyn and Patrick Leahy this week introduced legislation that would close many loopholes left open by the current Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and take advantage of the Internet to more efficiently disseminate public information. The Openness Promotes Effectiveness in our National Government (OPEN Government) Act aims to include Internet publications as part of fee waiver review, create an online tracking system for FOIA requests, and require reports from the Comptroller General on implementation of the Critical Information Infrastructure Act.
