CDT To Co-Sponsor Public Interest Workshop on Domain Names Issues - As a prelude to ICANN's public meeting in Los Angeles, CDT will be co-sponsoring a public interest workshop on domain names issues with Harvard's Berkman Center, the Markle Foundation, and Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility. The workshop will gather Internet leaders from the non-profit, technical, international, industry, legal and academic communities to exchange ideas on cutting-edge issues in the larger domain names policy debate. CDT Staff Counsel Alan Davidson will be leading a public session on "Emerging Privacy Issues," including privacy protections and the "Whois" database of domain name holders. All of these issues are of great importance to the public interest, and will have implications for governments, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. The workshop will inform and educate, spur discussion and debate, and work towards constructive solutions to the pressing issues now facing ICANN. Results of the event will be presented at the official ICANN meetings during the following days.
