FBI Audit Reconfirms Need for Judicial Checks - An internal FBI audit has found that misuse of so-called "National Security Letters" to obtain sensitive information was much more common than previously acknowledged, the Washington Post reported today. NSLs, which are issued by FBI agents without judicial approval, are outdated given changes in law and technology and should be replaced in most instances by a system of prompt prior judicial review.
